Let's get up to speed...

To say that this is long overdue would be an understatement. I suppose better late than never. So here we go...

It all began in late August 2002 when I drove down to Escondido with my friend Vaughn to pick up my new MINI Cooper (the car that I had been obsessing about since it was announced by BMW). Buying the car was no easy process due to buyer demand and dealership price gouging (specifically in Los Angeles). My determination not to overpay for my car lead me to call every dealer in California - first to see if they had the car I wanted in stock, and second to see how close to MSRP I could get. After MANY phone calls I found the exact car I was interested in waiting for me at Brecht MINI in Escondido- the price was right so I put a deposit down over the phone and picked the car up the next day. This has proven to be one of the best automotive decisions I have ever made.

There are a few reasons why I love this car- they are (in short) that it's a scrapper- it's not the biggest or fastest- but it handles like its glued to the asphalt and seems to be born and bred for zipping around the city or back country roads. I also like the fact that aftermarket parts are readily available and offered from quality shops. Which brings us to why I'm here...

The purpose of this site is to document the transformation and personalization of my Cooper- bits I add and subtract, the process that goes into each procedure and how I feel about the results. I may even document any "adventures" that I have along the way.

Since this blog is a year late- the car has a head start- things have been done- adjustments made and so forth. Though I may choose to go back and document these in greater detail- in the interest of time I will simply list them for now and we can go from there.

Bonnet Stripes added
Moss Mini free flow air-intake system installed
Union Jack/Chequered Flag badge added to the boot
Taillights rewired to utilize rear fogs as additional brake lights
Stock gas cap/door replaced with "S" Chrome cap and trim ring

That's all I have done so far. I will try and put pics of the mods up soon (they look pretty sweet). I have also ordered a slick new shift knob from RSpeed which should make the shifting feel a little smoother (this is just an intermediate step until I can swing a Short Shift Kit).

Anyway thats all for now- check back for updates.

Happy Motoring...I'm off to build the other pages....
